Exhibit Location: Galeria 147 - ALAC 147 E. Adams Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004
Opening Reception: Friday, June 7, 2024, 6 to 11 p.m.
EXHIBITION THEME - ALAC MISSION
Proposals for our next exhibition are now being accepted. Artists working at all levels of their career are invited to submit work for consideration. Located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, ALAC is open to the general public and provides artists with an extraordinary opportunity for exposure. We are committed to building on the legacy of Latino arts and culture. Artists are encouraged to submit up to 6 pieces or original art, photography, sculptures or multimedia work. The exhibit will also serve as part of a year-long campaign to raise awareness about “Many Bridges, Many Readers,” a nonprofit fundraising initiative that seeks to donate a copy of the bilingual children’s book, “Raulito: Arizona’s First Latino Governor,” to every fifth-grade in the state.
American Dreamer is a multidisciplinary art exhibit in remembrance of Arizona’s first (and thus far only) Latino Gov. Raul H. Castro. Castro was born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico on June 12, 1916. He died April 10, 2015. He was 98 years old. His life spanned nearly the entirety of Arizona statehood. Learn more about him here.
The exhibit opening on June 7, 2024 (First Friday in Phoenix) will also feature live entertainment, music, poetry, theater and dance. Performing artists are encouraged to submit a proposal to jgcvm1@gmail.com.
ELIGIBILITY:
Artists 18 years or older may submit work for consideration. Submissions must be original works of art completed by the artist. Artists may submit work in any media; however, 3D artists will be asked to provide pedestals or other display materials required for their artwork or any other art pieces that require special installation. Artists selected for exhibition will be responsible for delivery and prompt retrieval of their artwork.
ART DROPOFF:
All artwork must be delivered to ALAC no later than 6 p.m., June 1, 2024.
ARTWORK PICKUP:
All artworks must be picked up within one week after the exhibition ends (by 6 p.m., July 2, 2024). Artwork not picked up within this time period will incur a storage fee of $30 per day. After 30 days, artwork not picked up becomes property of ALAC.
ARTWORK FRAMING:
The artist's artwork should be professionally framed. If the artwork is deemed inadequately framed, the artist’s work will either not be exhibited or will incur ALAC framing costs to ensure the artwork is exhibition ready. For those needing help, ALAC provides reasonably priced framing services. Gallery wrapped canvases do not require a frame as long as the wrap is painted.
EXHIBITION FEE:
The regular exhibition fee is $25—which is applied to your $25 artist membership fee.
SALES:
Sale of artwork is required to be considered for exhibition. All sales transactions are handled by ALAC; and ALAC applies a 40% commission fee to all artworks sold. Initialize here if you agree to these terms: _____
HOW TO APPLY:
Please complete the online submission packet and return it by April 26, 2024, with the following:
1. A brief bio (400 words or less) with a high-res photo of the artist.
2. Digital images of work to be considered for the exhibit must be submitted to azlatinoarts@gmail.com.
3. Images submitted for consideration must match the titles as they appear on the submission form.
All work submitted for consideration may not be exhibited but should represent the artist's current style and ability. Artists may also be asked to create new work for exhibition. ALAC reserves the right to reject physical artwork that varies significantly from submitted images, is aesthetically challenged, or deviates from the exhibition theme and mission of ALAC. Initialize here if you agree to these terms: _____
Send submissions to ALAC via: azlatinoarts@gmail.com
SELECTION PROCESS:

LIABILITY OF ARTWORK:
ALAC does its best to preserve and protect all artwork being exhibited. ALAC has installed security cameras on the premises and has an alarm for the building. Therefore, artists are responsible for providing their own insurance to protect their artwork, if so desired, and ALAC is not responsible for artwork that is damaged or stolen by third parties.
